Marathon runners in the sky
"We always have wind, we always have sun, why do not we use that?"
Modern wind turbines are a constant in the future energy mix. However, winds with top speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour and weather influences such as snow, rain, heat and UV radiation leave enormous marks on the turbines.
In order to increase the life of the wind turbines and to make effective use of wind energy, BASF supports the manufacturers of wind turbines with intelligent chemistry. These include the use of epoxy resin systems for heavy-duty, fiber-reinforced components, coatings for wind wings, foams for internal reinforcement of the rotor blades, Special grouting mortar and concrete admixture for the production of highly stable foundations and towers as well as lubricant for gearbox housings.
